ZION – the Subway Hike

Last week, a couple days before Marco got home from Chile, Dane, Jas, Dylan, and I went to Zion for a super quick and amazing trip! Dane got drawn for a last minute permit, and we couldn’t miss the opportunity (IT was probably the 4th time I’ve applied and still didn’t get it!!). We explored a part of Zion I’d never been – The SUbway Hike. It’s known for it’s cool cave-like walls and creek walking. For the 4 miles in you walk up a creek! It’s much easier than trying to follow the banks. At first it’s a little intimidating to walk into the water, but once you start there’s no going back – its way better. The final part of the hike (if you hike it as an out and back (which is the only option if you don’t have rappelling gear)) is the “Subway.” Appropriately named since it looks like an underground tunnel. Unfortunately, the rain caught up to us, and with fear of flash floods, we didn’t get to spend too much time admiring the actual Subway. But, it was an amazing hike – one of the coolest I’ve done, and I would definitely go back! Here’s some pics from our beautiful campsite and the awesome hike! 🙂
